Saline, Michigan.

Michigan, playing their first game at new home grounds, found their footing early, giving Traverse City a 77-5 hiding.  The Mill Pond Park in Saline, though a bit further from home than the boys are used to, is a lovely venue for future home matches.

Center Charlie Berklich opened the scoring with a step past TC's fullback, dotting down under the posts.  Flyhalf Aaron Dodd converted.  Some great continuity sees Doug Chenoweth with a try.  Dodd's conversion makes it 14-0 with 10 minutes gone.  The backs show their strength with a 3 phase blitz, ending with a try to wing Andy Dougovito.  Second five eighth Jamie Hickey bursts through next, shoving off a few attempted tackles and scoring next to the posts.  The conversion means 26 nil.  Just before the half hour mark, Dodd shows some flair with a cross kick which Dougovito gathers and dumps to Hickey who waltzes over the goal line.  Just as the halftime hooter would be sounding, Traverse City capitalizes on some abysmal decision making and tackling attempts to score in the corner.  The kick proves too difficult and the sides head to the shed 31-5.

Determined TC would end the match with just five points, Michigan came out in the second half with a defensive mindset.  Attack proved slow moving, though, and it took ten minutes before a clever half-break by wing Pete Mulhearn set up prop and new Michigan player Hany Shehata for a score.  Just minutes later, some powerful running by openside flanker Mike Przybylek gives Berklich room to run.  His step outwiles the lonely TC custodian and he touches down between the uprights.  Captain and scrumhalf Karl Seibert is next to score with a dart up the sideline from inside his half; a dummy pass to Dodd ensures all he has to do is step the fullback, and he does so with relative ease.  50-5.  Another 60 meter run by Dougovito ends with a five pointer.  A well-worked set piece move by Michigan gives Seibert plenty of daylight, cutting through a gigantic gap in the defense and scoring under the posts.  Conversion means 62-5.  Hickey is over soon after bobbling a pass and eventually settling it.  Not to be called too generous, Hickey scores again after a half-field sprint.  And just before full time, replacement Ty Waters offloads to Shehata, who demonstrates the "front row step" past the TC fullback.  Final score is 77-5
